Walk In Fridge
A fully insulated refrigeration room
- Date: Sep 2019
- Client: Speightstown Restaurant
- Project Type: Walk-In Refrigerator
About this Project
This room was converted into a walk-in refrigerator by insulating the walls with 3 inches of 2lb closed-cell Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF), providing an insulation factor of approximately R20 (normal fridges range from R7 to R12).
Wooden studs were constructed to provide a framework within which the spray would be applied.
Some of the backing walls had to be treated with Sika 320 to ensure that all surfaces were fully waterproof.

When the sprayfoam is applied it leaves an unfinished surface.

This has to be ground down by hand to get a nice smooth surface that is suitable for the interior of the walk-in fridge room.
